Steering Group
The Alliance for Feminist Movements (AFM) Steering Group consists of 11 seats, representing national governments (2 seats); private philanthropy (2 seats); women’s/feminist funds (3 seats); feminist civil society (3 seats); and one non-voting seat for the host organization.
The Steering Group plays a crucial role in driving the AFM’s vision and ensuring accountability. The group provides strategic guidance, overseeing activities and ensuring alignment with the AFM’s core goals. This includes securing financial and political resources for feminist activism, through inspiring our existing and potential supporters.

The Steering Group represents the AFM on the global stage—amplifying our collective voice, building partnerships, and representing different constituency groups. By engaging with governments, funders, and civil society, the group strengthens recognition of feminist movements and ensures their priorities are visible in key spaces.

It shapes priorities, oversees key activities, and ensures that our strategies reflect the values and perspectives of our members. With this oversight, the AFM can remain transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of feminist movements worldwide.

The Steering Group also supports the internal management of the AFM. This includes advising on fundraising approaches, reviewing budgets, and ensuring resources are managed responsibly. In collaboration with the Secretariat, the group provides guidance on organizational priorities and staffing needs, so that the AFM remains sustainable and well-equipped to advance its mission.
